The following Appliance Usage table is to be used as a guide only. If you are unsure of any readings please check the appliance with the compliance plate on the appliances for the required power usage.
The times listed are based on approximately 50% battery consumption. This is to minimise the risk of possible battery damage due to continual deep discharge cycles. Most batteries will operate with deeper levels of discharge.
The average wattage listed are for continuous running power. Starting surge will be higher for some applications.
For example:
If you use an electric knife that uses approx 100 watts on a standard 75amp car battery it will last for approx 3.3 hours, on a 105amp gel battery it will last for approx 5.4 hours and on a 225amp deep cycle battery it will last for approx 10.8 hours.
When using a Starting Battery (standard car battery) it is strongly recommended that your vehicle is running while the appliance is in use because it can compromise the starting ability of the battery of the vehicle.
To calculate the amperage for your equipment, simply add the wattage of all appliances and multiply by the expected daily usage. This will provide your watt hours. For example: A TV uses 55 watts and you watch TV for 3 hours.
55 x 3 = 165 watt hours. Divide this by 10 to obtain the required amperage. 10 = 16.5 amps draw.
